  • Spreads the Liver qi and breaks up stagnant qi:  for constrained Liver qi patterns with such symptoms as distention and pain the the chest, breast, or hypochrondriac regions, or bulging disorder patterns.*
  • Dissipates clumps and reduces stagnation:  for food stagnation with accumulation which manifests as pain, distention, or a stifling sensation in the epigastrium.  Often used for rather severe food stagnation, and for masses when stagnant qi progresses to blood stasis.*
