Indeed, Du Zhong in traditional Chinese medicine is prized for its attributes which increase vitality and promote longevity. It tonifies the Liver and Kidney thereby strengthening the sinews and bones. Consequently, it is famous for treating chronic lower back, leg and knee weakness and pain that arise from Kidney Yang deficiency. The essential oil can be applied topically for this purpose as well as to heal broken bones.*

Other conditions associated with Kidney Yang are reproductive and urinary difficulties such as impotence, low libido, and incontinence. Du Zhong is helpful in these areas as well. To address low libido or impotence it may be paired with She Chuang Zi (Cnidiium Seed) essential oil for application on appropriate acupuncture points and areas of the lower back and abdomen.*

Du Zhong helps to stabilize a restless fetus or threatened miscarriage by strengthening the Liver and Kidney during pregnancy. For this purpose, apply the essential oil on appropriate acupuncture points and areas. May be combined with essential oils of Bai Zhu (White Atractylodes) and Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra) for this purpose.*
