Other herbs, such as Zingiber officinale (ginger), Withania somnifera (ashwagandha), and Curcuma longa (curcumin/turmeric) have long been used in Ayurveda to provide support for good joint and cartilage function. Boswellia, or also commonly known as Indian frankincense, is a moderately large, branching tree that grows throughout India, North Africa, and the Middle East. Most of its medicinal properties are found in its thick, gummy sap that comes from under its bark. It is recognized for its stimulating, antiseptic, and immune modulating properties.
