Description | This formula comes from the Za Bing Zheng Zhi Xin Yi (Newly Significant Miscellaneous diseases Proven Treatment), author and date unknown. It has been slightly modified by replacing the endangered species Tian Ma (Rhizoma Gastrodiae) with Tian Ma Mi Huan Jun (Armillaria) which is grown commercially and has the same functions and indications. Our version is a 7:1 powdered extract in a 750 mg caplet. |

Tian ma (gastrodia) is a problematic herb to import due to its endangered status under CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Substances). It is unfortunately a plant no one has learned to grow. Luckily, in this case the mycelium of the fungus, Armillaria melia, contains high amounts of the constituent that has been identified as the active principle in tian ma. Blue Poppy credits the research of Dr. Subhuti Dharmananda in using this substitute. |
