Description Within this formula, Chai Hu, Qing Pi, and Zhi Qiao course the liver and rectify the qi. Dang Gui and Bai Shao nourish the blood and emolliate the liver. When these two groups of medicinals are combined, the liver is harmonized. Dang Gui plus Tao Ren, Chuan Xiong, and Hong Hua quicken the blood and dispel stasis. Evodia-processed Huang Lian clears heat from the liver-gallbladder channels. This formula comes from Gong Ding-xians Ming dynasty Wan Bing Hui Chun (Returning Spring to the Tens of Thousands of Diseases) published in 1587
