Description Within this formula, Huang Qi (Radix Astragali), Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng), Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), Fu Ling (Poria), mixfried Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Sheng Jiang (uncooked Rhizoma Zingiberis), and Da Zao (Fructus Jujubae) fortify the spleen and supplement the qi, while Shu Di (cooked Radix Rehmanniae), Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Bai Shao (Radix Alba Paeoniae), and Chuan Xiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong) nourish the blood. Rou Gui (Cortex Cinnamomi) warms the channels and scatters cold. However, in this formula, it strengthens and promotes the supplementation of the spleen, the latter heaven root of the engenderment and transformation of the qi and blood. This formula comes from the Song Dynasty Tai Ping Hui Men He Hi Ju Fang (Tai Ping Imperical Grace Formulary).
