Here we take key herbs from a number of different formulas which are commonly used to stop excessive bleeding; Return the Smile Powder Shi Xiao San, and Women's Planting the Seed Pill, Fu Ke Zong Zi Wan, to remove Blood stasis, Protecting the Yin Decoction Bao Yin Jian, to clear Heat from the Blood, and Restore the Spleen Decoction Gui Pi Tang, to support the Spleen.* This formula can be used all month or just in the week before the period and during the period. Once the bleeding is controlled and the periods are not too heavy your patient should switch to other formulas matching her constitutional type. If your patient is using Jade Restraint before and during the period only, then extended use is acceptable and can be combined with other constitutional formulas used at other times of the cycle.* - Lyttleton
