Formula Rationale
Da Huang (Chinese Rhubarb), Huang Bai (Phellodendron), and Ku Fan (Prepared Alum) clear heat and eliminate dampness. Cang Zhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis) and Bai Zhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae) dry dampness. She Chuang Zi (Cnidium Fruit) dispels wind Tian Hua Fen (Trichosanthes) clears heat at the same time as it moistens dryness, thus preventing the other ingredients from damaging fluids and being over-drying.
