Boswellamine is designed to deliver a full dosage of glucosamine sulfate, an anti-inflammatory agent that is especially valued for treating degeneration of the joints. Glucosamine, present in the most active form as a sulfate, is a building block of the cartilage and lubricating fluid of the joints. It has been reported that in double-blind studies, osteoarthritis symptoms could be alleviated with about 6-8 weeks administration of glucosamine sulfate at 500 mg each time, three times daily. In several commercial products, glucosamine is combined with chondroitin, a complexed form of glucosamine; however, recent studies suggest that this addition is unnecessary, as the chondroitin must be broken down to glucosamine for absorption and utilization.
