Description | Dr Jake Fratkin, author of Chinese Patent Herbal Medicines, presented a two day lecture on the 50 most important formulas in modern practice. He included both Classical and Modern patents. He chose the best formulas from 20 categories such as digestive disorders, dermatology, gynecology, trauma, heat-toxins, and insomnia. For each, Dr Fratkin discusses its history, herbal energetics, and how to use it in clinic. This course is a distillation of Dr Fratkin's 38 years of clinical experience with the most important Chinese patent medicines. He shares his insights from not just clinical practice, but from working within the industry where he crafted formulas and determined manufacturing protocols. His recommendations are not based on brand loyalty or endorsements, these products are the ones he uses in his practice and home. Acupuncturists can order formulas as needed, but that is an expensive and time consuming process. We can order a wide range of formulas in anticipation of patient demand, but many products have a shelf life of <2 years. But in the broader sense, you want to know which products you'll need every week if not every day. You want to know what formula and which brand. You want the assurance that you're not buying an inferior variation or paying too high a price. And, you want some assurance your herbal products will not expire on your shelves waiting for patterns that don't present. You will learn more than what product to use, you will understand WHY the formula addresses the patient's condition. This is information you can use on everyone you treat!
